The prompt on the Write Bravely group was “What does your body need from you that you’ve been too busy to notice?” Here are my thoughts.

Dear Sunita,

I have carried you for over  60 years, growing and changing with time. I remember a time when you were younger, I made heads turn. But back then, you took pride in me. You cared for me.

Then you became a mother and I could no longer give you the best. I began failing you, and you in your pain and fear, did not realise that now I needed you to carry me.

Decades passed, you were too emotionally exhausted to pay attention to me and I absorbed the exhausted energy and tried my best but I was facing an internal mutiny with your autoimmune conditions.

I need you now, for the next 10, 15, 20 years we may have together to listen, to notice how I change, how I behave when you eat clean, when you exercise, when you take your meds, the time when you choose sleep over scrolling and binge watching serials.

Notice how I feel lighter, how I give you less pain, how I add to your joy & energy levels; how I make you live life more.

So all I am asking is that now that I am growing older, treat me with care, pamper me with love and I assure you we will be a winning team once again.

With all my love,

Your body.

    1. Thank you Corinne. Both for taking the time to read and comment and for being an inspriation in my journey. I have and am still learning a lot from you.

  1. Of course, our bodies deserve our kindness and love. After all, it’s our body. It can be any shape, but it deserves proper care and respect. Pamper yours with the love and care it deserves, Sunita.
