“I am worth it!” Every book, post , video on self help urges you to repeat this mantra to yourself.
Now, the problem with my brain is that it can’t just accept orders or instructions. It has to question every one of them. And so it started. What is the “it”? What are you worth? If you had to replace the it with something else, what would it be – besides the obvious loving myself, taking care of and spending time and money on myself?
This was the result of my rumination.
I am worth my kids. Because they are lovely women, courageous, seeking to grow and learn. They are compassionate, yet have strong dreams that they want to follow.I am proud to be counted as one of their best friends and confidant.
I am worth being a teacher and a writer. These are the professions I choose everyday. As a teacher, I work tirelessly to give my students the best; to learn new things to share with them. It is extremely satisfying when my students emerge from their cocoon and take to the skies confidently.
As a writer, I bring happiness to my readers through my stories and poems. I make people think. It gives me joy when people tell me, “I loved your book. When are you writing the next one?” Yes, I am worth it.
I am worth my mentors. I have come across so many people in my life, who at different points of time, have been my mentors and my guides. I learnt a lot from each of them and yes, I am worthy of those mentors and guides. That is why the universe sent them my way; to help me learn, to help me grow into the person I am today and the future me as well.
Yes, I am worthy of all this and more.
What are you worthy of? Do share your thoughts in the comments.
P.S. This is part of my ‘journey’ this year, questioning who and where I am and who and where I want to be.
Some questions are worth pursuing. Yes, you are worth it. And by answering the how and why you gave yourself a solid reason to fully accept that you are worth it.
It’s my turn now. Thank you for sharing this, Sunita.
Can’t wait to see your post on this!
You have given me some food for thought as in to fathom what am I worth. And there, you also help me answer that I am worth all the wonderful things in my life. True for all of us.
You are truly worth it and more, Sunita. I love the way you bravely face your challenges and take on the world. Your daughters are truly a testament to your love and the freedom you’ve given them. Hugs! ♥
