My review:
I read this book while, I was attending to my mom who was hospitalised. I needed something to break the tedium of sitting at her bed side the whole day long as she slept on. I needed something to distract me from the fact that mom might not come home and yet I didn’t want something that needed too much effort to read.
“Lost in Istanbul” was exactly what I needed . It has 47 short stories which I could read in any order. I could pick up and stop reading as I felt the need, or had the time.
The stories themselves transported me out of the hospital room to all the places the author has visited. Her stories talk of hope, of courage, of roots and wings. The honesty in each story is refreshing.
As I read, I found myself reminiscing nostalgically about my own travels, to Istanbul, Bali and other places. Some stories were so touching that they made me tear up.
A well written book, that is a must read for every travel buff.
