by D. R Downer
A guide that will tell you everything there is to know about the big, bad, mysterious, and often misunderstood world of Ghostwriting.
My review:
“Ghostwriting is when you write something for someone, who would eventually present it to the world as his or her own work and pay you for keeping your mouth shut. It’s as simple as that.”
This description by D.R.Downer of what is one of the greatest mysteries in the world of writing sets the tone for the whole booklet. It is simple and easy to understand.
The book ‘The Secrets of Ghostwriting” is the third in The Writer’s Toolkit which is a TBC series of six books.
Downer talks about the what, why and how of ghostwriting, because as he says, “In order to understand the ‘ how ‘ , we need to try and find out the answer to ‘ why ‘ , and in order to do that we must first be familiar with the ‘ what’.
He has spoken about how to deal with the emotional attachment of letting go of something you have written. I found this particularly relevant because I tend to treat every bit of writing of mine as my only baby, as I am sure many other writers do.
The red flags that he has mentioned also make a lot of sense. All in all it is a really comprehensive guide of everything that you need to know about ghostwriting. Only D.R. Downer could have made everything so clear in such a concise manner.
