I sit at the window, a cup of tea by my side. The rain comes down in a soft whisper. It’s going to stay all day. It’s definitely not a day to wrack my brains on any task that requires a lot of effort. No, today is one of those “Let’s cuddle up with a book and a million cups of chai”, day.
There is a book I’ve been meaning to read. I have just been waiting to have the time (which means I want to do things perfectly; read- make notes-feel superior that I read it for learning rather than fun.)
Anyway, today seems to be the perfect day to pick up the book. It will give me an excuse not to do other tasks like reworking my lesson plans for my courses etc. So I pick up, “The Way Of The Fearless Writer”, by Beth Kempton.
I am actually eagerly looking forward to reading this book which has been gifted to me by my dear friend, Corinne Rodrigues
We happened to be having a conversation about our muse going missing and how we have not been able to write in the way we really want to. We were also lamenting that a lot of our fellow bloggers seem to be in the same slump.
The next day, without any warning, I received this book from Corinne. One glance at it had me eager to read it. Corrine had sent it to me to help me write again. That’s what true friends do. They listen- really listen- then quietly give you a nudge to do what you need to . And so today, I’m going to curl up on my window seat and read the book to the sound of the soothing rain.
Thank you so much, Corinne for being the best kind of friend there is! Love you tons!
I love this kind of days where you can just relax and read and sip three or five cups of tea listening to the tune of raindrops and just be.
What a wonderful gift! I hope the slump is a temporary one and all of us bounce back into writing as we used to a while ago. It’s always so nice to read your post, Sunita. ❤️
Let’s pour ouselves cups of tea or coffee and write, sharing our writing to help each other get out of this mire of fear and doubts. Looking forward to reading more of your posts!
Those are the best kinds of days, Sunita! I’m so happy that you took the time out for yourself and what better way to savour me-time but to curl up with a book you’ve been wanting to read and a “million cups of chai” as you beautifully described. Some days are meant for just that. Reading this post made me want to dedicate a day to reading and letting go of everything else! Honestly, I need that too! 🙂
It’s true we bloggers are all caught in a slump and it needs more than just a nudge and a push to get us all back into our writing grooves. I do hope it’s just a temporary thing. I so wish and hope to return to the old days of blogging again.
I hope we can all nudge each one to get out of the slump. It was good reading posts by other bloggers this week. It made me feel that I was not alone and that encouraged me to write more.
I haven’t reading / working through my copy either, Sunitha. I’m looking forward to starting soon. Hopefully, it brings something more to our writing. ♥
I finally started. It’s really making a huge difference. Having to dig deep and confront yourself is very freeing!
