There’s so much happening around us these days — endless noise, rushing, and headlines that make our hearts heavy. Somewhere between the chaos of the world and the busyness of life, I found myself craving something quieter this Diwali.

Something that brings peace.
Something that brings joy.

For me, that joy has always come through poetry.

When I write a poem, I slow down.
I notice the glow of a diya, the laughter of children, the small sparkle of kindness in a day.
And I thought — maybe others could use a little of that too.

That’s how Rangoli Rhymes was born.

A Celebration of Light, Colour, and Words

Just as every rangoli pattern is made of tiny, colourful grains that come together to form something beautiful, every poem is made of small, honest moments that light up our hearts.

Rangoli Rhymes is my way of sharing this creative light.

It’s a 5-day poetry celebration from October 20th to 24th, where every morning I’ll share a Diwali-inspired prompt — a word, a thought, a little spark to guide your poem for the day.

You’ll have till 8 pm that evening to send in your poem.
Each day, there will be a daily winner, and at the end, one Grand Winner — but really, everyone who writes is a winner because you’ll have created something joyful and original.

 Who Can Join?

Anyone who loves words, light, and expression.
Children, teenagers, adults — beginners and experienced writers alike.

If you can feel, observe, and imagine — you can write.
And this contest is your space to do just that.

Why Poetry, Why Now

I believe poetry helps us reconnect with what’s good and gentle — both in the world and in ourselves.
It gives us a moment to reflect, breathe, and turn emotions into art.

In times like these, maybe what we need most is not more noise, but more light in words.

So this Diwali, instead of only decorating your home, try decorating a blank page.
Fill it with the colours of your heart.
Let your lines shine like diyas.
